BEAUTIFUL VERY RARE ANTIQUE VICTORIAN SOLID SILVER HINGED BANGLE AESTHETIC MOVEMENT DESIGN - YELLOW & ROSE GOLD'FLOWER' STUDS - BALL DECORATION TO TOP & BASE - LATE VICTORIAN ERA c1880s/90s - HIGH QUALITY - GOOD CONDITION - GREAT GIFT! On offer is this beautiful, very rare antique Victorian solid silver hinged bangle.

It is rare due to the Aesthetic Movement style of decoration that covers the front half of the bangle. This is of three rows of alternate yellow and rose gold'flower' studs. They are repeated on the borders.

At the top and base of the front half there is further decoration of applied balls. Please see the photos for the details of this stunning bangle. The reverse of the bangle is in mirror finish silver.

It opens and closes by means of a clasp which is in good working order. This is an interesting and unusual piece. The bangle is not marked, as was common for this sort of jewellery in this period, but tests for solid silver. The'flowers' will be of yellow and rose gold, cut out and shaped into a pattern and then applied to the silver. This is the work of an accomplished, skilled craftsman. Furthermore, I believe that the top part of the internal clasp is also a small sheet of rose gold, which you can see on the photos. From the style, and my own experience, I would say that this bangle probably dates to the 1880/90s. In any event, this is a really beautiful, unusual antique bangle, stunning on the wrist - I love it! Ou can imagine how expensive this fabulous slice of history would have been in the latter part of the 19. It would undoubtedly have been the prized possession of a Victorian lady of some wealth. Please note that, like most antique hinged bangles, it is smaller than modern examples internally when closed - see the exact dimensions given below. And remember, collecting silver is a fascinating hobby.

It has a good weight of 45g. As noted, in good antique condition overall, especially considering it is probably about 130 years old or more, just the usual signs of wear commensurate with age and use, scratches, etc to the mirror finish reverse. Any dark marks, etc are reflections or bits of age related patina. This is a fabulous, rare Victorian solid silver, yellow and rose gold bangle with an unusual Aesthetic Movement design, a beautiful piece.
